Singing Out Las Cruces (SOLC) is a mixed voice, lesbian gay, bisexual, transgender,
queer, and ally/friends non-profit organization that performs choral works for the
appreciation, inspiration, and education of our community. SOLC is an active member of
GALA Choruses.

As New Mexico's first LGBTQIA+ mixed voice choir, SOLC has advanced a powerful
vision of respect and inclusivity through music for over ten years. SOLC was founded in
2011 by charter members, and under the direction of the first Artistic Director Dr. Ruth
Hanlin, performed its first concert "We Are All One." Since then, SOLC, under the
artistic direction of Irene Brink since 2016, has delighted audiences throughout
Southern New Mexico with uplifting musical programs like “Joyful Sounds” (2013),
“Queers through the Years” (2017), and “Songs from the Heart” (2023). SOLC will
perform “Songs for Us,” songs by and for the LGBTQIA+ Community, on June 8 and 9,
2024. SOLC believes in using the power of music to entertain, heal, and inspire.

We are a non-auditioned group that welcomes members of the LGBTQIA+ community
and allies, and as such, we embody the idea of true acceptance and combat
discrimination based on ability status as well as sexual orientation and gender. SOLC
gives voice to our community and strives for a society where all people are respected
and appreciated. We are seeking financial support to continue to serve and to expand
services to the LGBTQIA+ community in the Las Cruces and greater Southern New
Mexico region.
